The Year of The Horse

New beginnings, uncertainty, and pressure to act. Tuesday the 17th of February marked the official beginning of the year of the fire horse 2026. This concept comes from the ancient system where each year corresponds to an animal under the Chinese zodiac, each representative of themes and patterns we expect to see over the course of the year. Each of these animals carries traits according to their character and the Year of the horse is no exception to this rule.

The horse is symbolic of movement and confidence; taking whatever comes by the reins and harnessing your own strength. During this transition, it is important to follow your instincts, although you may have a general feeling of fear of things to come, relish in this feeling; it promises movement. The horse as an animal proves unpredictable and fire, even more so. Flinching at any moment, altered by sudden movement yet, simultaneously powered by strength. This in turn can be a theme to expect within the coming year. This year offers us the opportunity to lose ourselves in the chaos or, master our strengths. Setting intentions becomes imperative towards self-improvement.

These changes may seem disorienting, and you may feel paralysed by a pressure to act, create, perform. However, movement does not necessarily mean forward. We as individuals can’t be expected to follow the same template, growth looks different for everyone. You may feel that you don’t know yourself as well as you thought and if this is true, how are you able to follow your gut? However, how are you meant to know yourself if you remain stagnant? Movement becomes everything within this period. Set meaningful intentions and follow wholeheartedly. Expect that hurdles will rear their heads and, in turn, you will defeat them, one way or another. Anything done with well meaning intention is something to be proud of, harness this intention and run with it.
